Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox Encounter Germany, Warburg


A forthcoming encounter between Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox youth of Europe is to take place at the Coptic Centre, Warburg near Kassel, Germany, 27 - 29 July 2001. The aim of the Encounter is to discuss the possibilities of future cooperation between the youth, and to provide a forum for sharing ideas and experience of life as a Christian. The meeting will unite 40 young people, representatives of youth movements of the Coptic Church, Syrian Orthodox, Armenian, Ethiopian, Greek, Russian, Romanian, Czech and Serbian Churches. The language of discussion will be English. The programme will include discussions on the challenges of life as Christians in contemporary European society, and the preparation of common events in the future, His Eminence Bishop Damian of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Germany has generously offered both board and lodging to all participants for the duration of the event. Archbishop Dionysios of the Syrian Orthodox Church in Germany will also attend the meeting.
