Syndesmos President expresses thanks to former Secretary-General

Rebecca Hookway, the youngest of four children, was born in London in 1971 into an Orthodox family of En-glish and Irish origin. She has an Oxford degree in Modern Languages and, from 1995 to 1999, she taught French in a boarding school for girls in Great Britain.
Rebecca has been involved in Church activities on a local level for many years. She has taken part in camps and youth groups organised by the Greek Archdiocese of Thyateira and by the Russian Diocese of Sourozh in Great Britain and has represented both as a delegate at SYNDESMOS events.
Rebecca worked at the General Secretariat in Paris for four months in 1995 as a volunteer helping with preparations for the
XV General Assembly. Since then, she has never been far re-moved from SYNDESMOS activities because of the involvement
of her sister, Esther, as a SYNDESMOS project coordinator.
"Bringing Orthodox youth together, irrespective of ethnic ori-gin, will continue to be the priority of the SYNDESMOS Secre-tariat,"
says Rebecca. "We hope to continue to raise awareness of the universal nature of the Church and to create opportunities for Orthodox youth to realise their unity in the Spirit, and to grow in commitment to serving the Church."
